I don't know why it is so hard for me to clean during a child's first year of life. I mean, it's not the child that is making the mess at that point (usually), but it's so draining for me to have to focus on the needs of my youngest child. I can honestly say now that I've been through it twice that I hate the first year of a baby's life (the milestones are cool to see, but everything around me falling apart during that time is not so cool).
So now that my youngest child is heading toward his 2nd birthday, I've decided that I need to figure out how to get my house clean to my standards.
We hired a nanny at the beginning of the year. We are not well off or anything, it's just a friend of ours that said she was interested in the job and was willing to work for the same as we were paying for a babysitter.
Ever since we hired her, I've felt so bad for having our house be a dump hole. I mean, who wants to come work in a cluttered house with a dirty kitchen when you already have to care for two kids?
So once my youngest turned 1 a few months ago, it's like I've had this burst of energy and focus on getting my house clean. I've found out in the past that I'm not really good with "scheduled" cleaning (ie: Bathrooms - Monday, Kitchen - Tuesday, etc) so I basically have been working on a list that I'm constantly tweaking when I find something else that needs to be done and add it to the list.
So far, I have a daily/weekly/monthly list. I always have "projects" in the back of my mind, but I do need some sort of plan of attack for getting those done or at least written down. These projects in the past couple of months have just been "what will make my cleaning quicker/easier" projects so simple stuff.
Anyway, this is the first blog post even though I've been trying to get back into the cleaning groove for a couple months. I'll try to share my progress as I seem to be doing really well with keeping up as of right now.
